Since 1998, she has studied at the Ganesa Natyalaya under the guidance of Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan in New Delhi, India with the Indian government scholarship from Indian Cultural Council Relations.
Since her solo debut performance, "Arangetram" in 1999 in India, she has been performing Bharatanatyam solo and in groups with Guru Saroja Vaidyanathan for international audiences in India, Japan, Ukraine, and the USA.
In 2001, she received the "Indira Gandhi Priyadarshini Award" in India for her achievement in dance and bridging cultures between India and Japan. In 2003, Izumi performed solo at the "American College Northwest Regional Dance Festival 2002 ".
She completed a master degree in Dance at the University of Hawaii at Manoa with an International Rotary Ambassadorial Scholarship from the Rotary Foundation. She taught Bharatanatyam at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. Currently, she lives in San Francisco Bay area, California, USA.
